Just want to say that TX1000 is the worst laptop I have ever own. I brought it back into the shop 3 times in one year and worst yet the moment warranty ended my network card also died. After that it turns off on its own and sometimes boot to black screen and sometime won't turn on at all. Let's just say I gave up and bought a Dell instead.

Good going HP, as a computer science student I have told all my friends and prof not to buy any laptop from you guys.

HP needs to recall these, bought at Office Depot for my daughter going to college, last 6 mo. or so sent in for repairs 5 times under extended warranty, now in a month warranty ends and problems keep getting worse. First, no wlan, then doesn't boot. overheats, and more recently, disk drive pops open at random and earphone jack one channel is missing. Just gets worse every time I get it back from Office Depot authorized repair center. They mention possibility of a Lemon law but just go ahead and send it back to me and it does work for a couple weeks at most. This last repair lasted 8 days! What a JOKE!! HP NEEDS TO RECALL THESE ASAP
WE ALL SUNK ALOT OF HARD EARNED CASH INTO THESE USELESS COMPUTERS AND WE NEED SOME REIMBURSEMENT!

My fan is constantly on and the computer shuts of periodically due to overheating. My NVIDA card will not display to an external monitor in full color.

My HP TX1220 just rescently experienced these problems. First the wireless went and sure enough just the other day my computer will turn but with a blank screen. The hard drive indicator light will blink a few times and then... nothing. If this is a manufacturing issue a recall is deffinitly in order. Especially if Hewart Packard is expecting consumers to purchase any of there products in the future. We will see how they handle this situation.

I bought a TX1000 for my daughter going to college. In barely 2 years it started booting to a black screen. Nothing I tried has worked so far. I hope HP begins to recall this laptop because I cannot afford a new one

I have had similar problems with my computer - first died four months after original warranty expired. I actually had purchased an extended warranty from Office Depot, and fought with them for months because they had to repeat the fix five times. I got pretty upset with what I considered to be their incompetent repair people, although apparently it wasn't completely their fault. It's working again (holding my breath) since last October.

Bought a HP TX1000 in Japan in Feb 2008 worked OK for about a year (till Jan 2009) but then the screen whited out (first sign of problems) and wouldn't start up again. Sent it to repair- still under warranty- just- fortunately. There were other problems - screen join became loose and keys fell off the keyboard. They replace the screen, the mother board and the keyboard no questions asked. Now (Mar 2010) the screen has started whiting out again and touch screen and wireless no longer work. Downgraded to XP to take pressure off CPU/ RAM as soon as I got it. Maybe that was the problem but seems like the motherboard is designed to last for a year then blow- probably due to high temperature and poor cooling system. Ebay and Yahoo auction niche markets/ services have been set up to replace motherboards on the TX1000 & TX20000 that have burnt out signalling significant demand for those services indicating a quality control issue.

First of all, I am PISSED. I have no WLAN this is the second time it has dissapeared. These computers are so crappy that its sick. HP know of these problems, I mean how can they not with all of the complaints. These are obviously bad motherdrives or whatever. I bought my HP because I knew that they were good, I never heard one bad thing about them. But then low and behold I got mine. It was awesome the first year but then all the problems started happening. I've taken it places and I've sent it to get fixed. So ya it worked for a year after it was fixed but then the second warranty went out. Now it's messed up again, $500 thats what it cost me last time. They want to charge me $399 now to fix it again. But I don't understand if it takes that much just to fix mine, how much work is it to fix all of them. They just want our money they figure more we have to fix more we'll pay.

Yes, same problem with TX1420US... All of a sudden lights on and no one's home... Gotta love the blow dryer in the cooling vent trick though... Worked for me so I could at least get my important work off the machine before it goes completely south... Time to sell my HP stock me thinks..
