Since the last couple of days, the media is swarmed by the reports and crtical analysis whether the bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja has raped his maid when his wife and one year old daughter were away. Whether this is true or not will be decided after the DNA tests, but one thing is for sure, the actor’s reputation has gone down the drain. Everything as of now is in favor of the hapless maid who has been supposedly raped.

Shiney’s wife Anupam had called a press conference yesterday and vehemently supported her husband. She rubbished all the claims by the maid and said her husband was one thousand percent innocent. Well that only time will tell. But she has raised a very sensitive issue that rape can be done by a woman too and every time the man should not be put to fault.

I don’t know why but somehow I am finding that there is more to the case that meets the eyes. According to the media reports, Shiney was found relaxing in his house watching TV when they reached his Oshiwara house. If he had done such heinous crime would he be so complacently sitting at his residence? I understand that every law of the land is in favor of the maid, but if Shiney is not at fault, all this brouhaha is simply ruining his family’s life.

In the past, there have been many instances in the bollywood and hollywood when a happily married man has fallen for the nanny or the maid. David Beckam’s affair with Rebecca Loos comes to mind. Then closer home, who can forget Madhur Bhandarkar’s affair with Preeti Jain.

However, it would be better for the media to avoid mud slinging at the actor at this point of time. He is innocent till there is sufficient evidence to prove his crime. It is better to just wait and watch till the DNA report comes in. If Shiney is found guilty, then the media and the Internet can very well say what they like. In fact, I intend to post again after the reports come in. Hope truth prevails!

The memory foam originated in late 1970s as it was thought to be a good material for space flight seats. The astronauts have to endure very high gravitational forces and NASA scientists were looking out for something that could provide enough cushioning and protect their bodies by spreading the force over a large surface area. Though this foam could never be used in space programs, this excellent technology was sold to a mattress manufacturer for home use. Since then the memory foam popularity is increasing by leaps and bounds.

Memory foam, or Visco elastic foam as it is technically called, is very effective in the medical field as it reduces the pressure points. This quality ensures that people who are bed ridden do not develop bed sores. This kind of mattress is also relatively inexpensive and thus very cost effective. Another positive factor is its durability. A normal spring mattress lasts for 4-5 years. However, memory foam lasts for 15-20 years. Memory foam is also affected by temperature; hence it is a wonderful way to provide rest to your pressure points. Those parts of the body which rest heavily on the foam transfer more heat. Therefore, the mattress becomes softer right where it is required most. Hence one thing is for sure, if you decide to buy memory foam, it will change your life for the better.

I had just started to enjoy my holiday and finished planning what I could make myself for lunch, when my door bell rang. I wondered who it could be on a Sunday afternoon. My mind ran through a quick list of the possibilities that could probably be at the door. I had to find out anyways, I opened the door. To my surprise, there were two girls and a boy.

I looked at them with a blank expression. I wondered if I knew them. I didn’t. They were not surprised to have me look at them like that. It seemed like they were expecting it. They quickly introduced themselves to me. They needed to earn some money as a part of their “secret” project, I was told. They said they would do anything from cleaning the utensils to sweeping the floor. I was zapped. I dint know what to tell them. They looked like kids from well to do families. I enquired more about their whereabouts and what exactly were they supposed to do. They told me they had to earn about $5 by 4pm. It was 1.15pm at that time. It sounded interesting and I thought of helping them out. The first idea that came to my mind was to ask them to cook my lunch for me, but as I enjoyed cooking, I did not feel like asking them to do that. The expressions on their faces did not allow me to turn them down. I asked them to come after an hour so that I could finish off with my lunch and some other chores. In the mean while, I advised them to look else where for some work.

They left and they left me thinking as to what I could do for them. I got a call on the intercom exactly after an hour. Those guys were back calling to find out if I could still help them. I invited them home and gave them four tasks out of which they could finish only two. They were asked to write a review on any recent English movie and the other one was to write this blog post. This is one of the works done by them.

Wish all of them best of luck for their future endeavors.

He made this quite apparent while interacting with local residents at California’s Costa Mesa town hall on Wednesday.

He said that American schools need to have strong measures of performance if they want the kids to compete with the kids in China or India. He was hinting that the Indian and Chinese kids are much smarter than the American kids of the same age. It seems that he wants his people to invest in their kids if they want to see a better America in future.

He also said that parents should not place all the responsibility on the teachers. They have the onus to take care of the child, to participate in their homework, to read to them often and so on so that the child gets the basic values and goes on to become a better citizen.

In cyberspace, users have the option to buy ringtones of their choice for their mobiles. There are a host of sites on which you can get paid ringtones. However, sometimes it becomes frustrating when you cannot transfer the ringtones you paid for to another mobile. I have come across stories where people were left dumb-folded when they went for a mobile upgrade and the ringtones could not be transferred. Situations like these make the free ringtone sites even more in demand. In fact, if you don’t know how to get a free ringtone, these sites will provide you detailed instructions on the process.

On some sites, users also have the option to create their own ringtones by using their own music, animations, and pictures. Recently I came across an online ringtone community “Brinked” which lets the users create their own ringtones for free. The most impressive thing is that they support any phone or carrier that supports media files. These include Nextel, Sprint, Tmobile. ATT, iphone, and many more. You can get the hottest and latest songs as ringtones and you can also select from the most downloaded ones. The genre offered is varied from Raggae, Rock, and Rap to Pop, Country, and Movies. In case you have a specific song in mind, you can use the search feature to get your desired song. Another interesting aspect is the option of submitting a ringtone. You just register on their site and you can submit your favourite ringtone. All in all a perfect way to jazz up your communication free of cost!

I was a big fan of HP earlier, but now I am not.

Let me share my personal experience with HP, their lousy and low quality product.

I purchased an HP TX1320US (Turion 64 X2 TL-60 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Vista Home Premium) tablet PC last year from JLR, NYC. At the time of purchase I was in two minds; whether to buy Apple Macintosh or HP TX 1000 series. Due to convincing selling of JLR rep, I decided to buy HP TX 1320 US.

It has been working fine for about an year. Thought it was a good decision and I have partnered with a good company. However the laptop died within 13 months. Just imagine, exactly 1 month after warranty expiration the laptop died.

I faced following problems with the HP TX1320US laptop:

Overheat, at times temperature rising more than 90 degree

wireless card not working

Failure to boot ( LED glows blue except the mute and wifi buttons LED they glow orange, and on the screen nothing comes even the boot time HP logo is also not coming.)

I complaint to HP and wrote emails to various people within HP to get my laptop repaired. Well writing to CEO of HP had some impact. I was contacted by HP and the laptop was repaired for free.

Though the laptop worked well for about two months, but it again showed signs of the same problem and last week it died completely. I am really at loss of words now.

This time I am feeling really helpless and looking for a permanent solution to my problem. My experience with HP is disastrous and its really unacceptable to have this kind of problem on a 1 year-old computer. Interestingly, HP does not acknowledge this problem and apparently they are not planning any recalls on this defective product.

Request you to please sign our petition asking HP to recall this defective laptop.

With recession set in majorly in the US, it is being debated whether humanities should continue to be a part of US university programmes. A recent survey has found that most of the universities are lacking funds and are eager to cut costs as much as possible. The pertinent question before them is whether the subjects such as history, political science, literature, cultural studies which come under the umbrella of liberal arts take a back seat?

The dilemma before universities is that studying these subjects does not land the student in the job market instantly as opposed to the core skill-based courses such as Medicine, Engineering or Management. So instead of investing funds in liberal arts, should the students be encouraged to pursue skill-based courses. It is for all of us to see how things turn out during this downturn. Whatever the universities decide, one thing is sure that the future of students depends a lot on this decision!

UK schoolboy, Alfie Patten’s father has said that he would like to reveal the results of the DNA paternity test of his son live on TV. Alfie, 13, has created a sensation across the world by admitting that he is the father of Maisie, daughter of his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman, 15.

The 45 year old Dennis, Alfie’s father wants him to declare the results on a talk show and is openly looking for highest bidder for his son’s story. This attitude reflects that the parent is not at all serious about the 13 year old. He just wants to cash in on his story. A parent should be particular about instilling the right sort of values in the child but this father is setting a despicable example before others. It also shows how much UK’s culture has deteriorated over the years. A 13 year old is still a child and needs correct guidance to establish himself in the society. However, in Alfie’s case it seems that his father might have instigated him into all this so that he could earn millions from the scandal. It might have been a well thought plan, who knows! It is said that the parents should be more aware of how they behave rather than what they teach their children because children imbibe their behavior with utmost ease. But alas, some people just don’t get it right!!!

The IPL has generated a lot of enthusiasm and this year the last year winners ‘Rajasthan Royals” have a new owner Shilpa Shetty. She has got a $15.4 million gift from businessman boyfriend Raj Kundra in the form of 11.7% stake in Rajasthan Royals. Last year, this team concentrated solely on winning but this year they will supposedly have much more fun. They will soon be launching a talent hunt for cheerleaders. At a press conference, Shilpa added, that her experience in Bollywood will contribute to the music video, merchandising and publicity of the team. Boyfriend Raj talks business though. He is soon to shift base to Mumbai and said that Rajasthan Royals is the hot favorite in UK and this will be his first business venture after shifting base. And complimenting her girlfriend, he added, that with Shilpa on board, the popularity of the team will soar further. Best wishes to Shilpa and Raj!

It was sad to hear that the Indigo flight passengers from Goa to Delhi had to deal with so much mental trauma for four hours because a couple of passengers on board started threatening the crew and the flight had to landed abruptly and nobody was let out before thorough questioning from the NSG. It is to be noted that such occurrences also happen on other flights. The crew are bothered by drunk and impolite passengers. Air India has even demanded for all flights to be equipped with restraining devices such as handcuffs to subdue the unruly passengers. The hyderabad engineer Prashant Irene was arrested by Sahar police in Mumbai for allegedly molesting an air hostess. Though he was released on bail, his relatives said that he requires psychiatric help as he was “abusing” them also. It seems that he could not cope up with the demands of the discipline in the society.
