I had this laptop over year, and it is overheating. It overheats after 5 minutes. So I bought a laptop cooler and even that doesn't help. So I have another small Super fan pointed towards my keyboard to keep it cool. This is ridiculous, people should call HP or at least send some e-mails so that there would be a recall or something or at least that they will be more aware of this problem.

Will never buy another HP again .... ever .... never! Same issues as many have had with wireless, etc. Also had mother board replaced, USB connectors always quit working (now again), DVD drive bad (twice and is again), Ethernet replaced, needs to be again.

Came back from HP with deep scratches on lid, MADE them replace it, second laptop they did this to and the first the they never replaced ... after nearly 2 1/2 months of sending it in again and again got fed up and just kept it the way it was. HP is the bane of my existence.

Tech support from HP when talking to someone overseas is sooooooooooooo frustrating because they only read what they are given. I have worked with computers for over 20 years. Give me credit to try everything they demand I step through again nad again (every time the a new tech changes). Worse piece of c*&% laptop I ever purchased. Even if they gave me one I would not take it .... well, maybe I would to destroy it and make the world a better place for all laptops.

Think I sound angry? Only when thinking about HP and this horrible laptop.

I purchased HP Tx 1000 two years back. In first 6 months I faced problem with battery which HP replaced as it was in warranty. After about 15 months of purchase wireless adapter stopped working and soon after that motherboard went dead. I can't do anything with the laptop as replacement motherboard costs hefty 400 USD and even after that there's no gurantee that it will work and for how long. Its better that HP recalls motherboard which has defective motherboard.

1. wireless adapter--My wireless adapter died summer 2009, after 1 1/2 years. Replacing the adapter did not help. Motherboard has stopped recognizing the wireless adapter. Now I use an external.
2. hot enough to cook an egg--Computer and the box on the power cord are always hotter than hot! I elevate the computer to keep it from overheating and shutting down. It has overheated and shut down twice. I understand that running hot is characteristic to AMD, though, and aside from the shutdowns it hasn't seemed to affect computer function.
3. no boot--Booting problem first started feb.2009 and lately (since 11.2009) having more often I have problems booting. Now thinking about buying a new computer; this one seems no longer reliable. Otherwise it's been a great computer and I dread the thought of parting with it, but i need reliability. One day last month it wouldn't boot to windows for 24 hours but magically worked the next day. Since then boot has been iffy, but once it does boot, computer works fine.
4. blue screens and red screens of death--i've had 2 blues, one red, all within past 12 months.

My girlfriend's father bought the tx1320us for himself and one for my girlfriend for Christmas in 2007. We've experienced problems with overheating all along to the point it would burn your skin after only seconds of contact.
More recently, the wireless card detected at its own leisure, the computer has been running even HOTTER (despite using the 'HP recommended setting'), and had been refusing to restart from hibernation AND from a shut down.
On Christmas 2009, the thing died and refused to boot. I paid a computer tech nearly $100 to walk in my door, bet me (before touching it) that it was the motherboard, then open it and confirm his hypothesis.

He said this particular model is known for the motherboard frying and it'd be over $300 to fix it.
After looking on HP's own site and seeing the hundreds of posts (since September 2008), there is no way the techies at HP believe the horsecrap line that they recite in response to the problem.

In this economy, people can't afford to be wasting an additional $300+ to fix a faulty machine that was defective from the factory. I am even more sure that HP can't afford to NOT fix the problem and turn away customers that otherwise spend thousands of dollars. It would cripple them.

I say we boycott HP until they recognize the issue.

I own a tx1000us, Wifi is dead in the water, Im a Computer Support tech degree'e and multiple certs, the card/boards are junk/bad. I work for geeksquad and have seen 100's of these come through my hands to be sent to service just to be returned unfixed, this recall should have been done 2 years ago, and HP keeping us waiting is bullshit. Hp should refund everyone's money for selling lemons or make better and fix our tablet pc's for free since we paid 1000$ for a fing paper weight. Now every time someone wants to buy a HP I RATTLE OFF BAD THINGS ABOUT HP AND MORE TIME THEN NOT, NO ONE BUYS HP'S. Unless HP steps up its Game and recalls these and fixes them, I will continue to stab HP in the face when it comes to someone purchasing their pc's.

I bought this machine for my appraisal business. After 2 years and one month the wireless card/motherboard is shot, according to my favorite computer shop. I bought this machine to save money by processing appraisals in the field. Now, I'm out $1,200.00.

All my computers and printers have been HP. With all the bad PR about this machine, one would think HP would be more responsive to the customer base --I guess that let's us know something about HP's stance on customer loyalty. Fool me once.............
